Blessed Fourth

Blessed Fourth

    Blessed Fourth!

Earlier today, i was enjoying a relaxed moment of hand washing dishes at the kitchen sink after enjoying a delectable spread of Indian delicacies at lunch time. During our stay in the city of Kolkata, India, my Mom has been feeding us, my brother, sister-in-law, neice and dad have been pampering us - and we have not been in the mood to heed the inner calls for a calorie or weight watch!

In the midst of my dish-washing efforts, I unexpectedly heard the Star Spangled Banner being played through a television channel from the adjoining room. At that very instant, I was transported from that kitchen sink to the land of the free and the home of the brave. I stopped what I was doing and stood in attention with my hand crossed over my heart.

Breathing Indian air, I felt the joy of celebrating two worlds. My heart especially rejoiced on this special day for the joy and privilege of knowing each of you our American friends.

    I was soon singing,

“Oh say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave”

    God bless America!

    Happy Fourth of July!

Enjoy the day and don’t forget to pray for those in our world for whom independence is still a far cry!
