When Pastor Arun called us to all pray for America no matter what our political stance may be at the Gathering Worship on Saturday, September 12, I was compelled to put my faith in action. You see, I love America! I am a child of the World War II area. I missed having a father for the first 5 years of my life, as my father was away fighting for freedom for you and me. I am thankful for what Tom Brokaw calls “The Greatest Generation”. He writes in a recent letter on behalf of the National World War II Museum:
“When America was plunged into war the morning of Sunday, December 7, 1941, history hung in the balance. The forces of tyranny were on the march. Britain and the Soviet Union were succumbing to the hammer blows of the Nazi war machine. The Japanese juggernaut in the Pacific appeared unstoppable. Yet, with the smoke still lingering over Pearl Harbor, America united as never before. Overnight, the American people were resolved to one purpose and one purpose only: final victory.”
Now in the mist of a world-wide pandemic, rioting in our streets over a major election, Franklin Graham invites us to join a Prayer March in our Nation’s Capital. By the time you read this, the march will be history, but the prayers of the American people live on the heart of God. Mark Batterson, “The Circle Maker” says, “Prayers don’t have expiration dates. God answers them forever.” If you missed the Prayer March, you can begin NOW to PRAY FOR OUR NATION for the next 30 days. You can go to Trinity’s Web site and download your copy of the 30 Day Prayer Guide for America. Franklin Graham encourages us to PRAY HUMBLY, PRAY BELIEVING and PRAY WITH THANKSGIVING”
Day 1 of the guide: Pray for God to open hearts all across our nation to His Gospel. My scripture search for the promises of God, took me to Ezekiel 11:19 & 20:
“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them. I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then, they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people and I will be their God.”
My prayer: Father, you have promised to give us a new heart. I circle your promise on behalf of my brothers and sister who call America their home, this beautiful land of the free and home of the brave.
I pray that you will join me over the 30 days of October to pray for America as an act of obedience and faithfulness to God .
Let us be about our Father’s business,
