Nurturing Ministries
Trinity United Methodist Church
FUNERAL CARE
Funeral care is a ministry to those members who have lost a loved one and desire to hold a funeral luncheon in our church's Fellowship Hall. A group of folks from the Trinity Volunteers is available to provide this service.
MEMBERSHIP
TRACKING
The attendance patterns are reviewed on a weekly basis. This information is obtained from the attendance pads. Sandi Tobias keeps track of the attendance and brings noticeable pattern changes to the attention of the Senior Pastor. An attempt is then made to reconnect those whose involvement with Trinity has lessened. A letter is sent to visitors who have signed the attendance pad. Repeat visitors are also contacted to see if they desire to become part of our church fellowship.
PARISH NURSE
MINISTRY
Our parish nurse, Barbara Zimmerman, helps with hospital visitations. Barbara is also involved with follow-up visits when our folks are discharged from the hospital. In addition, she prepares a monthly wellness article for our Trinity Tidings.
HOMEBOUND
VISITATION TEAM
This team, headed by Nancy Miller, seeks to visit all our homebound members on a regular basis. The Upper Room and Mature Years are distributed to these folks and copies of the weekly bulletin are mailed to them. They may also receive taped recordings of the service if interested. Another way in which we assist our homebound is with transportation to doctor appointments and errands. Several social events, including an annual Christmas party and summer picnic are conducted each year.
NEW MEMBER FRIENDS IN FAITH
Upon joining Trinity Church, each new member is assigned a "Friend in Faith". The job of this mentor is to keep in touch with new members for at least one year and encourage them to become part of one of Trinity's many ministries. Pastor Slaybaugh and Sandi Tobias assign these mentors to welcome our new Brothers and Sisters into our congregation.
CONFIRMATION CLASS MENTORS
Each Confirmation Class member receives a mentor at the beginning of his or her Confirmation studies. The Confirmands and their mentors are assigned a number of goals and ministries to complete within the confirmation-instruction time frame. Pastor Slaybaugh assigns these mentors.
TRINITY VOLUNTEERS
The Trinity Volunteers ministry focuses on promoting relationships within the Body of Christ and increasing the scope of fellowship within Trinity Church. The team is responsible for cooking, serving and cleaning up for our semi-annual Dinner Theaters, coordinating the annual Christmas Tea refreshments, setting up and cleaning up for the annual Church Conference and cooking and serving at various other church related functions, including funerals.
HOMEBOUND
COMMUNION SERVERS
On a quarterly basis, Lay Communion Servers take communion to the homes of those folks who are unable to attend Sunday Worship. Mary Herr coordinates this ministry.
PRAYER CHAIN
This group of dedicated lay people prays for members of our congregation and others who have requested prayer. They sometimes meet for breakfast and prayer at the home of Joan Ickler.
PUBLICITY -
NARTHEX BULLETIN BOARD
Attractive displays are prepared for this bulletin board that are church oriented and display the message of God's grace.
SERVICE
TAPING MINISTRY
Worship services are recorded each Sunday and cassette tapes distributed to those members of the congregation who are unable to attend Sunday Worship. Tape recorders are also provided to those who have none.
LIBRARY MINISTRY
Vacancy exists to fill this ministry.
HOSPITALITY
This committee is responsible for evaluating the over-all friendliness of Trinity Church. They also evaluate the user-friendliness of worship services. And, finally, assess the church building's hospitality. They also host new-membership welcoming events. They are in charge of the Welcome Table in the Genesis Room of the church.
