Notable Nooz

March 8, 2010

The March issue of the Trinity Tidings (our monthly newsletter) is now available.

Happenings at Trinity Church

Altar Flowers

March 21st is available for anyone who would like to sponsor the altar vases.  The cost is $28.  Please call the church office.

Lost and Found

Do you know where your dishes are? Pans and dishes have been found in the kitchen that belong to members of our church. These items have been placed on the table in the hallway near the mailboxes. Please claim any pans or dishes that belong to you. If owners are not found, we will need to discard these items. Thank you for your help.

Old Wooden Ramp

The old wooden handicap ramp in front of the church is in need of repair.  Since we now have the concrete ramp that leads to the main front doors, the trustees are considering removing the wooden ramp, rather than repairing it.  Please call the church office if you know of a reason that the wooden ramp should be kept in place.  Thank you for your input.

New Pictorial Directory

The new directories have arrived.  If you had your picture taken (or submitted one), your copy of the new directory is in your mailbox or on the table in the hallway. If you did not participate but are interested in buying a copy please call the church office.

Don’t Forget the Toppings!

March:  Trinity is collecting condiments each month for the Bridge. The Bridge is a food pantry located in New Cumberland. You can put your donations in the box marked ‘Bridge’ in the St. John’s Room. The donation for the month of March is mayonnaise. Thank you for your support. Any questions please call Cindy Ickler.

Summer in the Sonshine

March 9:  It’s time once again to begin planning this year’s Summer in the Sonshine program.  The three dates this year are:  July 14th and 28th, and August 11th.  As in previous years we need as many Trinity volunteers as we can get. There is a job for everyone:  preparing food, making craft bags, piano player, lesson planner, helping with mailings, chaperone, presenter, set up and clean up, taking pictures, or spending time with and guiding the children.  Please think about joining us this year.  I guarantee the children will touch your heart.

We will be meeting Tuesday, March 9th, at 6:30 PM in the Mt. Olivet room.  If you want to join the fun this year but are unable to attend this meeting, please contact Sandi Tobias in the church office.

Community Lenten Luncheons

Wednesdays, March 10 - March 31:  The New Cumberland Ministerium is hosting the Lenten Luncheons again this year.  They are held every Wednesday during Lent, beginning at noon, at Baughman United Methodist Church.  The theme this year is “Jesus, the Great I AM.”  Cost is $4 per person.  There is a sign up sheet on the table in the hallway or you can call the office no later than noon on Monday to sign up each week.

30-Hour Famine

March 12-13:  The Youth will be participating in the 30-Hour Famine on March 12-13 to raise awareness about world hunger.  They will be fasting from noon on the 12th until 6 p.m. on the 13th.  They are accepting sponsorship donations that will go to World Vision to help feed the world's hungry.  If you would like to donate to the famine, please see any youth or youth group leader.

Daylight Savings Time

March 14:  A reminder that Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 14.  Turn your clocks ahead 1 hour before going to bed on Saturday, March 13.

Blood Drive

March 20:  The annual Blood Drive will be held here at Trinity on Saturday, March 20th from 10 AM to 3 PM in Fellowship Hall.  Once again this will be in conjunction with Community United Methodist Church and Baughman United Methodist Church.  To make an appointment, call Cindy Ickler.  It only takes about an hour.  Remember, with your donation, you will help save three lives.  Thank you for your support.

Rock-a-thon

March 21:  The Youth will be rocking in rocking chairs in front of the church on Sunday, March 21st, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds for Bethesda Mission.  If you would like to make a donation, please see any youth.  Thank you for your support.

In Memory of Chase

March 28 (last day):  Joyce Karash will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh in memory of her great-grandson, Chase Radle. There is a box in the back of the Couples’ (Lion and Lamb) room to place your donations. She will be collecting items until Palm Sunday, March 28th.

The Pine Street Chamber Singers will sing two sets of choral music by John Rutter.  Anne Guenin, a gifted pianist,  will present music of Nicolai Medtner on the piano.
